Mrs. Josephine Jones Johnson, Midville Highway, Wadley GA departed this life Friday, June 12, 2020 at an Augusta Hospital.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, June 20th, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Brinson Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadley GA.
Viewing will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home.
Mrs Johnson was born to the parentage of the late Joseph and Robert Lee Carswell Jones in Jefferson County where she attended the Jefferson County School System. In 1953 she married the now late Bennie Johnson and moved to New York. After living in New York for forty-four years and retiring from Universal Travel after 38 years of service, she returned to Jefferson County where she kept herself with numerous civic and religious activities. She was an active member of the Brinson Hill Baptist Church, Missionary, worked with Feed a Kid, Save One Build One, Wadley Police Department, NAACP, ILGWU and Vice Mayor.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Robert C. Jones and James A. Jones.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Johnson, Wadley, GA, Kenneth Lamont Johnson, Louisville, GA, Cathy Verlene Johnson and Benita Rose Johnson, Jamaica, N.Y., Patricia Lynne Johnson, New York. N.Y.; her siblings, Harold (Sallie) Jones, Columbus, GA, Judson Jones, Jamaica, N.Y., Quinteen James, Odessa, FL; A loving God brother Roy A. (Diane) Jackson, Hephzibah, GA; God daughter, Monica Sherrod Cummings, Hephzibah, GA; three of her friends, Linda Lewis and Brenda Cameron who assisted her with her transportation and care; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
Davis Funeral Home, 725 Beech Street is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Josephine Jones Johnson.
Hey Nana never got the chance to say goodbye to you. I sit and ponder why you but no need to question because I know you're in a better place. I miss you dearly and love you.
