Obituary For Lenora Danford Tooks

Lenora Danford Johnson Tooks, 85, was called home on March 4th, 2023. She was born to the parentage of the late Johnny (Snook) Danford Sr. and late Cleola “Cleo” Braddy Danford on Tuesday, September 21, 1937, in Bartow, GA, Jefferson County. She is preceded in death by both her mother, father and siblings in eternal rest.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Mark A.M.E. Church. Interment will be held in the Braddy Family cemetery, Bartow, GA. She attended school in Bartow and Wadley, GA. Later in life, she moved to Brooklyn, New York where she became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. There she met and married James Johnson. The union held strong until his passing in 1992. She gave birth to one child, Frances (Jimmie Greene), who then gave her three grandchildren, Jamal (Deb), Rhymal (Latalya) and Schavon (Damion Campbell). Those grandchildren gave her thirteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She later returned home to Wadley, GA to be closer to her siblings, Curtis, Eugene, Elnora, Carlton, Clarence, Charles, Allen and Johnny Jr. All who proceeded her in death. Lenora was later reunited with an old friend, C’Lester Tooks, whom she married and gained four bonus children, Bobby (Glinda) Cooper, Penny Cherly and Jackie (Reggie) and fourteen grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. We will keep her memories alive.
