Marie Thompson was born December 30, 1939 in Louisville, Georgia to the late Sonnie and late Nola Thompson. She departed this life Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 11:00 A.M. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with mask and social distancing. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her sisters Susie Thompson, Cora Lee Thompson, Reba Watkins, Missouri Bells, Willie Mae Gordon, brothers Garfield Thompson, Tommy Thompson, Ray Thompson, Johnny Thompson; Frank Gibbons. Marie received her education in the public school system of Louisville, Georgia. She joined Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church at a early age. In the 60’s she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and was employed at Emory University Hospital, Fulton County Mill, Atlanta Stove Works, and retired after a 30-year career at Master Rack Division. After retiring she enjoyed and valued her time with her sons and grandchildren. Relaxing while watching her favorite TV Shows such as The Heat Of The Night, General Hospital, and the Tamron Hall Talk Show. She leaves to cherish her three sons Leon (Vickie) Thompson of Augusta, Georgia, Ricky Thompson, and Kendrick Thompson of Atlanta, Georgia, two sisters Elizabeth Thompson of Atlanta, Georgia, Julia Gibbons of Belle Glade, Florida, one brother Wright Thompson of Bell Glade, and one sister-in-law Mary Frances Thompson, five grandchildren Karmethia Thompson, Kanisha Thompson, Kayla Thompson, Justin Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Byron Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Griffin and Kanzis Hill.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
