Mother Annie Mae Gibbons Cody Mason was born on February 7, 1934 to the parentage of Ada Wells Gibbons and Jim Gibbons. She was the third of the six daughters and one son born to this union. She peacefully transitioned from this life to her eternal home in glory on October 16, 2025, at the ripe old age of 91.
Homegoing Celebration will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries, 11972 Highway 1 South, Wadley, GA 30477. Interment will be held at Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home, 725 Beech Street, Louisville, GA.
Mother Mason, as she was affectionately known, graduated from the Wadley Public School System. She was employed at the Wadley Shirt Factory for many years until the company closed its doors.
She was the mother of 5 daughters and 3 sons and was married to the late Edward Cody, Sr.
She was later united in marriage to the late Ozzie Mason, Sr.
Mother Masonβs life changed dramatically when she became a Christian and joined the China Temple Holiness Church, Wrightsville, GA, under the pastorship of Elder James Blair. It was there that all of her children and grandchildren began their prosperous spiritual journey becoming pastors, preachers, and teachers in the Kingdom of God. She attended faithfully for over 40 years until her health failed. She later joined The Hand of God Ministry under the pastorship of Apostle Dr. Catherine Braswell, her daughter.
Mother Mason made a name around her Wadley Community taking home cooked meals and her famous sweet potato pies to homes of those who were shut in. She loved cooking, shopping, family gatherings and making people smile, oftentimes famously saying, βIβm an old piece of leather, well put together!β
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her 5 sisters and 2 brothers: Willie Mae Gamble, Rosa Mae Jackson, Ollie Mae Strowbridge, Eula Thomas, Ada Lee Gibbons, Sammie Gibbons and Tom Gibbons; One son: Edward Cody, Jr.; one grandson: Germaine Gibbons; one great-grandson: Cody Johnson; one son-in-law: Dr. Robert Perez; and a daughter-in-law: Jackie Gibbons and one grandson-in-law: Demetrius Wright.
She leaves to cherish her memories, 5 daughters, Pastor Betty Perez, Apostle Dr. Catherine (Varick) Braswell, Linda (Rev. Dr. John) Harmon, Edna Delois Cody, Jacqueline (Pastor Timothy) Hicks and two sons, James Willie Gibbons and Kelvin (Regina, NP) Cody. 21 grandchildren: Natasha Parker, Harold Moore, Gabriel Moore, Kimberly Cherry, Felicia Gibbons, Malisa Williams, Andrea Eremus, James Dickerson, Jr., Christoper Dickerson, Edwina Roberson, Edward Cody, III, Stephanie Cody, Theo Harmon, Neoski Johnson, Safarrah Wright, Telisha Cody, Lakeisha Cody, Sharee Cody, Erica Clemmons, Kendrick Hicks, Ashley Hicks and Jessica Wadas; 63 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews , relatives and friends. Special acknowledgment of two devoted daughters-in-law, Annie Dorothy Cody and Ruth Cody.
