Mr. Myles Charles Howard, Sr., affectionately known to many as "MC," departed this earthly life peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Louisville, Georgia, at the age of 72.
Public viewing will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home, 725 Beech Street, Louisville, GA
Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Canaan Galilee Baptist Church, 6697 Hwy 1 N, Louisville, GA.
Interment in the Lone Star Cemetery, Mae Lamb Road, Louisville, GA.
Born on May 31, 1954, in Louisville, Georgia, Myles was the son of the late Roosevelt Howard, Sr. and Fannie Lane Howard. At an early age he joined Canaan Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where he developed a strong foundation of faith that remained with him throughout his life. He was educated in the Jefferson County School System and proudly graduated from Louisville High School in 1974. Following graduation, he began a distinguished career with Georgia Tennessee, where he faithfully served for more than three decades as a Control Room/Machine Operator. His strong work ethic, dependability, and unwavering commitment earned him the respect of both colleagues and supervisors throughout his career.
Above all else, Myles was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and steadfast love for his family were evident in every aspect of his life. Whether offering words of wisdom, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing his presence, he touched the lives of those around him in meaningful and lasting ways.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Rosa Smith Howard; his parents, Roosevelt Howard, Sr. and Fannie Lane Howard; his cherished grandson, Nolan Miles Howard; and his siblings, Lee Edward Howard, Roosevelt Howard Jr., Robert Howard, Catherine Davis, and Deacon Otis Howard.
He leaves to cherish a lifetime of treasured memories his four loving children: Lacola Smith of Hephzibah, Georgia; Shunte (Terrance) Watson of Dallas, Texas; Myles Howard, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia; and Tynessa Howard of Louisville, Georgia.
He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Clarence Rhaney, Jr., TheAdra Rhaney, Branden Smith, Alexis Anderson, Inferia Howard, Cassati Howard, Za'Nyah Ferguson, Cannati Howard, and Mason Howard; and his treasured great-grandchildren: Cayden Rhaney, Isaiah Lewis, Alyis Smith, Cameron Rhaney, and Za'Narii Ferguson.
Myles is also survived by his devoted siblings: Betty (Albert) Thomas of Augusta, Georgia; Willie Howard of Tacoma, Washington; Cleveland (Monica) Howard of Greenville, North Carolina; Mary (Jack) Johnson of Wadley, Georgia; James (Pauline) Howard of Hephzibah, Georgia; and Jerome Howard of Augusta, Georgia.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his brother-in-law, Deacon Florence Davis of Louisville, Georgia; sisters-in-law: Ella Mae Howard, Edna Howard, Evelyn Howard, Patricia Cooper, all of Louisville, Georgia, and Michelle Howard of Fairmont, North Carolina. Additional brothers-in-law include Harold (Shirlene) Rhoney of Beech Island, South Carolina; Pleaze (Audrea) Smith, Roosevelt (Christine) Smith, and Bobby Smith, all of Augusta, Georgia. Additional sisters-in-law include Ida Clark of Stapleton, Georgia, and Sarah Smith of North Augusta, South Carolina.
In addition, he leaves behind his lifelong friends, Henry Burse, Sr., Walter Thomas, and LC Brown, Jr., as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, neighbors, and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, humility, and unwavering presence.
Mr. Howard's legacy is one of faith, hard work, integrity, and unconditional love. His life serves as a lasting reminder that true greatness is measured not by earthly accomplishments, but by the lives we touch, the love we give, and the memories we leave behind. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit and the values he instilled will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
