Mrs. Patsy Young was born on April 26, 1938, in Louisville, Georgia, to the late Levora Gibbons. On May 28, 2026, she peacefully departed this life at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville, Georgia, at the age of 88. Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, hard work, and an unwavering love for family.
Public viewing will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, 5116 Belmont Road, Louisville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Patsy was a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and grace. Born and raised in Louisville, Georgia, she later relocated to New York, where she spent more than 40 years building a life for herself and her family. Through dedication and an entrepreneurial spirit, she established herself as a successful businesswoman while remaining deeply committed to the values that guided her throughout her life. After retiring, she returned to her beloved hometown of Louisville, where she enjoyed reconnecting with family, friends, and her church community.
Patsy possessed many gifts and talents. She was known as an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together around the table. She was also a talented seamstress whose creativity and craftsmanship were admired by many. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. Her nurturing spirit, wisdom, and encouragement touched generations and created memories that will be treasured forever.
A faithful servant of God, Patsy was an active member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Missionary Board for many years. Her commitment to ministry, service, and helping others reflected the depth of her faith and her desire to be a blessing to everyone she encountered. Through her acts of kindness and dedication to the church, she left an enduring impact on her congregation and community.
Patsy was preceded in death by her mother, Levora Gibbons; her beloved husband, John Young; her sons, Marvin Young, Alvin Young, and Patrick Young, Sr.; a sister, Vashti Davis; and her grandson, Patrick Young, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories and continue her legacy of love her devoted children: Joel Young of Harlem, New York; Patricia Mitchell of Louisville, Georgia; and Althea (Robert) McLendon of High Point, North Carolina.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Frances Young, Mary Jane Way, and Sara Parrish; her brother-in-law, Lewis Hankins, Jr.; her grandchildren, Joel Young, Jr., Marquis Young, Joel Kyle Young, Alicia Young, Miriam Young, Malaki Young, Qiana Young, Patrice (Nekedrick) Pemberton, George Miller III, Sharelle Young; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Kelis Young, Joel Jerome Young, Kapel Joel Young, Quron Pemberton, Qadence Pemberton, Kennedi Pemberton, Cason Fraley, Cannon Miller, Bryson Young, Dejanay Young, Sebastian Dathan, Blaize Dathan and Dream Dathan.
She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart: Rev. Kenneth (Phyllis) Davis, Myrtice (Jimmy) McCullough, Elaine Davis Henley, and Laura Gibbons. Their love, support, and cherished memories will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
In addition, she leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family members, dear friends, church family, and loved ones who will forever cherish the many wonderful memories they shared with her.
Though her physical presence will be greatly missed, the love, faith, wisdom, and kindness that Mrs. Patsy Young shared throughout her 88 years will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy is one of strength, service, devotion to family, and unwavering faith in God—a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
