Obituary For SGM Wadous Cunningham, Sr

SGM Wadous Cunningham Sr. was born on February 3, 1933, in Burke County, Georgia, to the late Judson Cunningham Sr. and Carrie Nealy Holmes Cunningham. On September 10, 2026, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, passing from labor to reward and leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.

After dedicating more than 30 years of his life to his country in the U.S. Army, Wadous worked as a license insurance agent with Transamerica Insurance Company. Throughout his life, he was a hardworking and devoted man who valued his family and the relationships he built with those around him. His life was marked by commitment, perseverance, and love for those he held dear.

Wadous was a man who took pride in his work and in providing for and caring for his family. He will be remembered for the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime and for the memories he created with his loved ones. His presence was a blessing to his family and friends, and his legacy will continue through the generations that follow him.

Wadous was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Ruth Cunningham; and his siblings, Freddie Cunningham Sr., Willa Eva Jones, and Judson Cunningham Jr.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children, Wadous (Ruby) Cunningham Jr., Sierra (Joe) Tam, and Johnny (Linda) Harden.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Roosevelt Webb Jr., Lakeshia (Lonnie) Valles, Tiesha Cunningham, Tierra (Damian) Farmer, Sire Tam, Saint Wadous Tam, Angelique (Kenithan) Lewis, Johnny (Crystal) Harden, Jarvis (Olivia) Harden, and Leonard (Sheena) Harden.

Wadous leaves behind his devoted siblings, Carl Burley, Gurtie (Hyatt) Howard, Larry Burley, Gary Burley, and Floyd Chambers; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his devoted caretaker, Phyllis Harden-Jones, and special friends, Mike and Idella Morales.

Wadous Cunningham Sr. was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and a cherished member of his family. His life was a testament to the importance of family, hard work, and the bonds shared with those we love. Though his earthly presence will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to keep his spirit alive.

His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, and all those blessed to know him. He may no longer be here in person, but his love, wisdom, strength, and memory will remain forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
