Obituary For Wade Banner

Wade Banner was born in Harlem, New York on July 16, 1936, the fifth oldest child (of 10) of the late Lizzie and James Banner. He made his transition from this world on November.

Graveside Military Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. Pierce Grove Baptist Church, 3673 Bostic Mill Road, Bartow, GA 30413.

He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in New York City where he excelled in academics. Furthering his education, he attended Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina for 1 year where he studied courses in Social Science. He liked history, was an avid reader and an articulate conversationalist who kept current on politics and the important issues of the day.

He enlisted into the United States Air Force May 1957. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He served three years in the Air Force and was stationed in, Shreveport, Louisiana and Guam. While in the military, he was a Fire Protection Specialist - Crash Rescue. He was Honorably Discharged September 1960 from the military.

Wade was married to the late Alice Gibbons Banner for over forty plus years whom he affectionately referred to her as "Al". He cared deeply for his wife and family and took great care of them. Wade felt his greatest accomplishment in life was raising their son Wade Aswan and daughter Veronica with the help of God.

Growing up in a highly religious home, Wade knew The Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. He loved reading the Bible. He joined the Lowly Nazarene Baptist Church in the Bronx, NY and was ordained Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Butler.

He was a leader and set an example that will live on. His personal mission in life was to help others and he dedicated himself in that regard. He had a strong determination, was an eternal optimist and was loved by the many people whose lives he touched. Before he retired, he worked at Lord, Geller, Federico, Einstein Advertising Agency - Finance Assistant. His work experience included the Apollo Theatre -Treasurer; Loews Orpheum - Assistant Manager; Loews Victoria - Manager; Field Enterprises - Salesman; Harcourt-Brace Jovanovich - Salesman and the Conference Board - Library Assistant.

Wade was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father in-law, brother, uncle, and friend. He always encouraged others to advance and do well. He enjoyed all kinds of music: gospel, opera, classical, jazz, and rhythm and blues. He will be remembered as a caring person, firm but fair, and extremely honest. He was always helpful and supportive of others. He will be greatly missed.

Lori Ann Banner, daughter Veronica Jones, 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Catherine Davis; brother-in-law, John Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends to include Mr. & Mrs. Albert Garland.
