Wanda Marie Womack Gandy was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend. She was known for her vibrant spirit, generous heart, and infectious warmth, she left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her impeccable style was one to be replicated. She was a true fashionista whose earthly life peacefully concluded on May 12, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Gandy.
Wanda was the eldest of her three sisters. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, on March 27, 1956, to her late parents Annie C. Webster and Willie L. Curtis. As the big sister, she naturally stepped into her role as a leader and a protector, traits that would define her entire life. She was educated in the Escambia County School system and was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School where she formed lifelong friendships and memories.
She was a dedicated and hard worker. In her early career, she was a valued employee at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Seeking greater opportunities for herself and her children, she made the bold move to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1995. There, she began a successful and fulfilling career with the Ford Motor Company, where her work ethic and bright personality quickly made her a favorite among her colleagues.
While she took great pride in her work, her greatest achievements and deepest joys were found in her family. She was the fiercely proud mother of four children and the doting grandmother of five. Her home was always filled with love and laughter. Outside of family time, she had a passion for the fast lane - she was an avid enthusiast of Corvettes and loved the thrill and style of the classic sports car. Whether she was cruising down the road or hosting a gathering, she was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family.
Her legacy of kindness and unconditional love will forever be cherished by her children; Sherell (Marc) Love, Alex (LaTaunya) Salter, Correll Salter, and LaVonna Bolar as well as her grandchildren; Erik Lee II, Markell Salter, Ari Moore, Langston Love, and Carter Moore. She touched so many lives and will be sincerely missed. Holding her memories close are her sisters, Annette (Clemmie) Ward and Gloria Matthews; her nieces and nephew, Celeste Bey, Alicia Ward, Samantha Matthews and Ronald Matthews, Jr.; as well as many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Wanda never met a stranger. To know her was to love her, and she returned that love to her friends and family.
