Obituary For Willa Eva Cunningham Jones

Mrs. Willa Eva Cunningham Jones, Eva, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on August 3, 1941 to the parentage of late Judson and Carrie (Holmes) Cunningham. She was also proceeded in death by her brother, Freddie Cunningham, Sr. Eva made her transition from labor to reward on Monday, June 5, 2020 at Mt. Sinai/St Luke’s Hospital, NYC. At an early age, she became a member of the Eden Baptist Church in Louisville, GA. Eva received her education from Waynesboro Industrial High School in Waynesboro, GA. After graduation in 1960, she moved to New York, NY where she met and married the late John (Jay) Jones. Three children were born to that union. She worked for the NYC Health Department and Health & Hospitals Corporation for 24 years. After retirement, she joined the Jackie Robinson Senior Center. Eva leaves to cherish her memory three loving children, Curtis Jones of Waynesboro, GA, Sherry Jones and Kenneth Jones of New York, NY. One sister, Gertie Howard (Wyatt) of Pontiac, MI; five brothers: Wadous Cunningham of Columbia, SC, Judson Cunningham, Jr (Mary) of Waynesboro, GA; Carl Burley and Gary Burley of Atlanta, GA and Larry Burley of Augusta, GA. 12 grandchildren (which include Jenelle and Jarron who were reared in her household); 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, supporting cousins and friends. Viewing will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 from 3-6 P.M. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Eden Baptist Church, Louisville, GA.
