Memorial Services for Ms. Daphne Darnell Delk, of Atlanta, will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at First Iconium Baptist Church, 542 Moreland Avenue, Atlanta, GA. Reverend Timothy McDonald, III, Pastor, Officiating.
Ms. Daphne leaves to cherish her memories, her brothers, Charles Delk, William Delk; her sisters in-law, Joyce Delk, Deborah Delk, Frances Delk; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as other loving relatives, extended family, and close friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church Friday, at 10:30 A.M.

Add A CondolenceI spend an entire class period teaching my eighth-grade students at Marietta Middle School (the former Marietta High School) about Ms. Delk. She was the first African American to integrate MHS, and we sit on the same steps that she walked up every day to enter the school via a side door as we read an interview with her. Her legacy lives on.
