It is never easy to let go of the ones we love and hold closest to our hearts,the weight of losing you feels heavier than words can say. Today we simply pause to honor you the beautiful soul you were and thank you for all the wonderful memories. Thank you for being far more than a sister-in-law (love) and an (amazing) aunt to me. You poured so much warmth into our family and for that you were deeply and profoundly loved in return. They say some people come into our lives for a reason and some for season. We thank God with all our hearts that He blessed us with you for both. Your presence was a gift, your love was a constant blessing and we thank the Lord for the time we shared with you. Rest peacefully, until we meet again. "You will never be forgotten."

There are some people who leave a mark on your heart simply because of the way they love others. To me, you were one of those people.

I always called you "Sugar Sugar" because you were super sweet, and "Miss Sugar" because your kindness, warmth, and loving spirit made that name fit you perfectly. You had a gentle way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.

One of the things I admired most about you was your generous heart. When you saw someone who was hungry, you didn't just offer them a meal—you wanted them to have a complete meal and whatever they wanted to drink. I would sometimes say they only needed water, but that wasn't enough for you. You wanted them to enjoy their food, to feel cared for, and to know they mattered. That was simply who you were. You gave with joy, not because you had to, but because your heart overflowed with compassion.

You also loved your family with everything you had. Your love for your children, your grandchildren, your brothers and sisters, and your entire family was deep and unwavering. You loved hard, stood by those you cared about, and poured yourself into the lives of the people who meant the most to you. Your family was one of your greatest treasures.

Your kindness, generosity, laughter, and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. The lives you touched are better because you were here, and your legacy of love will continue through everyone who had the privilege of knowing you.

Though our hearts ache because you are no longer with us, I am thankful for every memory, every smile, every act of kindness, and every moment we shared. You taught us that love is shown in action, generosity is never wasted, and a sweet spirit can change someone's entire day.

Until we meet again, your memory will remain forever in our hearts.

To my beautiful Mother,

There are no words that could ever truly express the gratitude I have for you or the impact you've had on my life. For 38 years, you have been one of my greatest teachers, showing me what unconditional love, strength, resilience, compassion, and generosity truly look like. I am deeply honored and forever grateful that God chose you to be my mother.

One of the greatest gifts I received was not only having you as my mother for a lifetime, but also being blessed to spend the last five months of your earthly journey growing even closer to you. Those moments will remain among the most treasured memories of my life. In caring for you, listening to you, laughing with you, and simply being present with you, I received lessons that will continue to guide me for the rest of my days.

You taught me that love is not measured by what we have, but by how we love others. You were kind to everyone and welcomed everyone with an open heart. Your compassion knew no boundaries, and your generosity was simply a part of who you were. You loved not only me, but your children, your grandchildren, your family, your friends, and everyone whose life you touched. You had a beautiful way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.

As difficult as it is to say goodbye, I now understand that God was gently preparing my heart long before this day arrived. I often wondered why I was led to leave St. Thomas and return to Georgia. Looking back, I know one of the greatest reasons was to be with you—to love you, care for you, learn from you, and walk beside you during this sacred chapter of your life. That was one of God's greatest gifts to me.

You also helped me deepen my understanding of God—not as someone far away, but as the same divine life, love, and spirit that lives within each of us. Because of you, I have learned to see life with greater compassion, purpose, and faith.

Thank you for every sacrifice you made, every prayer you whispered, every hug you gave, every word of encouragement, and every act of selfless love. Thank you for believing in me, standing beside me, and loving my children as only a grandmother could. Everything I strive to become carries a piece of you within it.

Although I will miss your physical presence every day, I know that love never dies. Your spirit lives on through all of us whose lives you touched. I will honor you by living with the same kindness, generosity, courage, and unconditional love that you so beautifully embodied.

I tell your other nieces and nephews that we have lost so much more than an aunt. We all basically grew up together. For this reason - this is almost unbearable.

Our memories are as endless as our love. I know for sure that love and bonds transcend life as we know it. And spirits are connected forever. I do (love you in a place where there is no space nor time.)

My heart felt so (full) conversing every night for the last months of your life. Each time you reminded me that you were not afraid - confirmed your relationship with God. It is only a true relationship that could give you that type of peace.

For ALL that you did. . .for all of us. . .Thank you. Thank you for sharing yourself - your children - and your grandchildren. When the inevitable grief befalls any of them - rest knowing that we will all be there reminding them of your light. Just as the wind is unseen - yet felt and its presence known - so will you be.

My Dearest Aunt Darlene,

It is hard to find the words to say goodbye to someone who meant so much to me. My heart is heavy knowing that I can no longer hear your voice, see your smile, or spend time with you, but I am grateful for every moment we shared.

Thank you for your love, your kindness, and the way you always made people feel welcome. You touched so many lives simply by being yourself. Your strength, wisdom, and caring spirit will always be remembered, and I will carry those memories with me for the rest of my life.

Losing you has left an emptiness that words cannot fully describe. There are so many things I wish I could tell you one more time. I wish I could thank you again for everything you did, hug you one last time, and remind you how deeply you were loved.

Although you are no longer here with us, I find comfort in believing that your love will never leave. It lives on in the lessons you taught, the memories we made, and in everyone whose life you touched. Whenever I think of you, I will remember your warmth, your laughter, and the special place you will always hold in my heart.

This isn't really goodbye, because I know that love is stronger than death. Until we meet again, I will cherish every memory and honor your life by trying to live with the same kindness and compassion that you showed to others.

Rest peacefully, Aunt Darlene. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten.
