To the Marion Family,

On behalf of everyone at Donald Trimble Mortuary, I want you to know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers every day since you all gave my father the call to take Meme into our care.

Over the past week, I had the privilege of getting to know your family during the arrangement process. Through every conversation, I learned more about Devon not just by the stories that were shared, but by the love that filled the room each time his name was spoken by Mrs. Dianne, Mr. Jeffrey, and Ms. Vonda.

It was easy to see that Devon had a big heart, a warm smile, and a way of making people feel special. The many lives he touched are a true reflection of the kind of man he was. His legacy will continue to live on through the memories, lessons, and love he leaves with each of you.

Thank you for allowing me to walk alongside your family during this difficult time. It has truly been an honor to serve you and to learn about the remarkable life Devon lived.

Although I will not be present Saturday as you celebrate his life and cherish his memory, I pray that God will surround you with His peace, give you strength for each day, and comfort your hearts in the days to come. May you always find comfort in knowing that love never truly leaves us; it lives on in the hearts of those we hold dear.

Devon was the son I never had, he was my boy! He had the biggest heart, the most beautiful smile, and a great laugh. He never changed from childhood to adulthood, always kind, always helpful, always lovable, and always happy to see you. Whenever I drove up to their house, he would come out to see if I needed help and just to say, Hi Auntie. I love the way he related to his family, especially his parents who raised him so well. He loved his sisters, his brother and certainly his children. I have so many good memories about him, more than I can write. There was nothing I would not do for him because he helped me so much with my business, my storage, and my events, even traveling out of town with me to help set up my booths at the Critical Care Conventions. I could only smile when he wrote on one of his resumes that he was the manager of my company, The ABCs of ICU. He showed a genuine interest my work and even my poetry asking me to recite poetry for his friends as he looked on like a proud son. He came to live with me for a while because he was trying to find a place for someone who was homeless. While he was there, he took over the house. He would not let me mop, wash dishes or do anything. He kept the garage clean and was always asking if I needed him to do anything else. All of my friends knew him and loved him too. He was always willing to help them with anything they needed. My family knew him because they knew how close I was to their family. They are my family too and I thank God for putting his mother in my path. It was a happy day to go and see Devon when he was born, the section of the post-partum ward was called, The Garden. And I believe that Devon is in the Garden of the Lord. He was a great soul, an unforgettable human being. Rest in power Devon. Love you always, Auntie Brenda.
