Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Frank Warren, of Decatur, will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at The Chapel of Donald Trimble Mortuary. Interment, Howard Chapel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Hatcheechubbee, AL. 36858.
Frank Warren was born on October 14, 1945 in Hatchechubbee, AL. He was the oldest of nine children born to the late Joshua and Annie Will Warren. His early years were spent working with his parents on the family farm. His first jobs outside of the farm were at textile mills and the Ralston Hotel in Columbus, GA. In 1966, he went to Atlanta and worked at Mead Paper company and the Simmons Mattress company. In 1969, he permanently relocated to the Atlanta area. He lived in the Dixie Hill neighborhood and continued to work at the Simmons mattress company. In 1985, he purchased a home and moved to Decatur. He went on to work at Simmons for 31 years, retiring in 2001. Post-retirement, he began a flea-market retail business and continued that work until just before his passing. Frank was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons fan. He was the father to a daughter, Wanda Lloyd and a son, Cedric (Mary) Lloyd. He leaves four granddaughters, Niveniece Turner, Janyce Lloyd, Cedrina Lloyd and Theary Lloyd. He leaves one grandson, Miles Crymes, and one great-grandson, Jaxon Crymes. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by one sister, Alma Jean (Willie)Thomas and a nephew, Willie C. Thomas, Jr. Frank also leaves six sisters, Rosie Lee (Lee) Williams, Maryjane Martin, Annie Johnson, Bessie Warren, Portrice Warren & Thelma (Jonathan) Robinson. Frank leaves one brother, Eddie James Warren, one Aunt, Mattie B. Lagrand and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was particularly close to his cousin Bettie Jean Banks and longtime neighbor Jack Hayles. Frank also had a special bond with nieces Lola, Joni, Jocelyn, & Jennifer. He carried the title of “Uncle Frank” proudly. Frank was never short on opinions, advice or guidance and he was a man of many talents like his father before him. He had a resourcefulness and was hardworking like his mother. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loving and full of knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. At times he was a gardener, groundskeeper, florist, carpenter, mechanic, repairman, salesmen and so much more. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. Even at the end he found a way to smile and joke, bringing joy to those who knew him best. The tenderness and sensitivity shown to Frank at the end of his life is something we will never forget. Thank you to everyone for the comfort you gave to him during his final days. A celebration of life will be held at Donald Trimble Mortuary, Inc., 1876 Second Avenue, Decatur, GA 30032 on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. EST. Repast to follow at Frank’s home.
