Homegoing Services for Ms. Jamela Givenchy Davis, will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, 2:00 P.M. at The Chapel of Donald Trimble Mortuary. Elder Terrance Maeberry, Eulogist, Officiating.
"Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure."
Ms. Jamela Givenchy Davis, affectionately known as “Mela,” was the eldest of twins born on December 22, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the loving parents of Marvella Davis Whitenburg and Antoine Cunningham. From an early age, she attended Greater Mount Calvary Church, where the seeds of faith and family were planted in her heart.
Jamela attended DeKalb County Schools and proudly graduated from Dunwoody High School in 2011. She possessed a curious and creative spirit, always dreaming of new ventures and imagining the possibilities that life had to offer. Her mind was constantly filled with ideas, ambitions, and aspirations.
A true lover of life, Jamela had a passion for cooking and delighted in trying new recipes. She cherished traveling whenever her health allowed, especially the memorable road trips lovingly planned by her mother alongside her twin sister and special brother, Preston. She found joy in simple pleasures, playing PlayStation, caring for her hair and nails, and expressing her beautiful sense of style. A true diva at heart, Jamela embraced her individuality with confidence and grace.
Jamela was also passionate about building connections with others. She dreamed of becoming a social media influencer and was diligently developing her own podcast, hoping to inspire, uplift, and share her experiences with the world. One of her most treasured traditions was her nightly game of UNO with her mother, a simple but precious ritual that reflected the deep bond they shared.
At a very young age, Jamela was diagnosed with Lupus, a battle she courageously fought throughout her life. Despite the many challenges she faced, she never allowed her illness to define her. Instead, she transformed her pain into purpose. Alongside her beloved twin sister, Jasmine, she co-founded “Chronic Girlz,” a support group dedicated to encouraging and empowering young women living with chronic illnesses. Their mission was to provide emotional support, understanding, and hope to others navigating difficult medical journeys. Together, they sought to change the world for chronically ill young people and leave a legacy of compassion and advocacy.
Throughout her life, Jamela shared a remarkable and loving bond with her maternal grandmother, Sylvia Davis, who provided unwavering love, support, and care. Their relationship was one built on tenderness, patience, and unconditional love.
Jamela was preceded in death by her beloved twin sister, Jasmine Y. Davis; her maternal grandfather, Marvin Davis; her paternal great-grandparents, Albert and Blondine Cunningham; and her uncle, Ronald Davis.
Though her earthly journey has ended, her love and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind to cherish her memory: her devoted parents, Marvella Davis Whitenburg (Darrell) and Antoine Cunningham (Carol); her half-sister, Khrysten Cunningham; her devoted grandmothers, Sylvia Davis and Gloria Clark Cunningham; grandfather, Albert Cunningham (Joyce); aunt, Gloria Cunningham-Sneed (David); uncles, Cherish Davis, Darryl Davis, Andre Cunningham (Angel), and Sheldon Cunningham (Tamika); her godfather, Craig Phillips; special aunts, Monica Prothro, Jeanette Wilhite, and Gloria Fields; special sisters, Me'kayla Whitenburg and Zariah Speights; special brother, Preston Austin; devoted caregiver, Felicia Tenney; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
Jamela's life was a testimony of strength, resilience, courage, and love. Though her time with us was far too short, she leaves behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who knew her. Her radiant smile, her determination, her compassion for others, and her unwavering faith remind us that even in life's greatest storms, there is beauty, purpose, and grace.
To know Jamela was to love her, and to love her is to carry her memory forever in our hearts.
