James E. (Edward) Friend, Jr., was born on January 31, 1983, in Atlanta, GA., to Mr. James E. Friend, Sr. and Yvette (Friend) Boomer. James attended Cedar Grove Elementary School in Ellenwood, before he moved to Bartlett, Tennessee, at the age of 10. There, he attended Shelby County Schools and graduated from Bolton High School, class of 2001. After high school, James enlisted in the United States Army, until he was honorably discharged in 2002. He later moved back to Atlanta, and learned the intricate details of the towing industry from his aunt Zaneta. In December 2013, he decided to make Virginia his home. Since being in Portsmouth, he worked for M & T Towing, before founding and operating TERRO Towing & Transport, LLC. in 2019, in honor of his late brother Monterro.
James is survived by his four children, Jayla, Gianna, Joshua, and Kariah; his parents, Marvin and Yvette Boomer, of Portsmouth VA., and James E. Friend, Sr., of Atlanta, GA.; his two sisters, Tynesha and Brittany Boomer; his brother, Marvin Boomer, Jr.; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2020, 12:00 NOON at The Chapel of Donald Trimble Mortuary. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 11, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary. Donald Trimble Mortuary, Inc., 1876 Second Avenue, Decatur, 404-371-0772-3.
Ecclesiastes 4:1 Again I turned my attention to all the acts of oppression that go on under the sun. I saw the tears of the oppressed, and there was no one to comfort them. And their oppressors had the power, and there was no one to comfort them.
