My favorite memory of Shelby was when everyone was at recess and we brought out the jump ropes. Nobody in the class was as good as Shelby , she was the best in the class. The whole day was really happy and exciting. She was a super funny and kind and everyone loved her.

Shelby was such a fun and amazing child. I know she loved to dance and I bet right now she is dancing in heaven.

On behalf of the officers and brethren of Ernest Everett Just Lodge No. 27, please accept our deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved granddaughter, Shelby.

Words cannot fully express the sorrow we feel upon learning of your family's loss. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this profoundly difficult time. Shelby's light, though brief in years, clearly left a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her. A loss such as this shakes the very foundations of our hearts, and yet we pray that the love surrounding you, from family, friends, and your Masonic brothers, may offer you a measure of comfort and peace.

As Masons, we are taught to be ever mindful of the frailty of human life and to support one another in times of sorrow. You have given selfless service to our Lodge and our craft, and we now extend our arms in brotherly love to you and your family, sharing in your grief and offering any support you may need.

Please remember that you are not alone. Your Masonic family stands with you in mourning and in prayer. May the Grand Architect of the Universe grant you comfort in your sorrow, strength in your faith, and peace in the days ahead.

To the parents of Lil Miss Shelby S. Brooks, you have our most sincere condolences on the passing of your precious daughter Shelby. Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of meeting your angel, but Officer Baker did and he spoke of her often on how much he enjoyed their brief conversations and her awesome outlook on life. Officer Baker is a rock but when it comes to children he's mush. I enjoyed hearing and seeing how their conversations impacted him. Thank you for sharing her with him. He just found out yesterday from her grandmother that Shelby got her wings and his heart is bursting with sadness today. In almost 40 years of life with him, I've rarely seen this side of him. Please enjoy your memories and call her name often; she still lives as long as we speak her name. My our God comfort you and may her memories bring you Joy, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Shelby was such a joy! I remember when we had our photoshoot and we were taking pictures of the background and even though the picture didn't come out with the background, because I'm an amateur lol, I remember every single one of us shedding a tear! She was so beautiful and she KNEW all the poses she wanted to do and you had her dressed up TO THE TEE for that shoot, it was so much fun!! She was like my little creative director lol. I'm going to miss that smile and that warrior spirit! I pray Heaven is exactly what she dreamed it would be!! God is with you and so is Shelby, forever! Shelby was the definition of joy. Joyful in her spirit and presence, and constantly giving joy to those around her. It was hard not to smile when she was around. I feel so lucky that I got to be one of her teachers this past year and watch her touch so many lives. I am going to miss our chats, the amazing classroom karaoke performances, and how she could bring a smile to anyone's face. In just a year, she taught me so much about how beautiful life is, and I will carry her joyful spirit with me for the rest of my life. Love, Mrs. Stewart.

I am so grateful to have met Shelby and have her in my class. Her personality was bold, fearless, and full of light. Shelby was a true leader — never afraid to try new things and always willing to stand out. No matter what challenges came her way, she never let anything stop her from dancing. Giving God all the glory! What can I say about this precious soul that was truly a gift from the Master.My heart is overwhelmed with so many, many, memories her wisdom of understanding, her intuition about her own soul, her essence of beauty, her grace. No wasn't in her vocabulary her light was like a candle on a hill, it never could be blown out. God position her for her work to be done here, and when she finished it was time to take flight home to see the Master face to face. Lord knows it hurt so, so, so, so bad! However I do know Shelby can't return but I will get there to see my G-baby again. Until than Queta, Ryan, Mommy Jerry, Scoot and Ru Ru the rest of the crew stay strong and know Shelby will always be with us.

I have never met Shelby (I know her thru my sister Renee)her journey was so touching that I share her story with several of my church members who also fell in love with her especially Dr John Montgomery. Shelby was a bright shining light since the day I met her and the bond her and my daughter Kaisyn had grown to have since we moved from Florida as of she was my child's guardian angel and she became a regular fixture in our household via FaceTime and that's something I will truly miss hearing is Shelby's and Kaisyn s Roblox convos and tik tok dances

Hi I'm Shelby's best friend Kaisyn we went to Hawaii together and I went to her ring the bell ceremony me my brother my Best friend Mariah we all loved her she was so kind hearted she always checked on us if we felt down I know we all miss her laugh so much and love her and I thank god for giving me the best friend I could every with for, scincerly Kaisyn Harper

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Shelby in 2023 so I knew her for almost 3 years. I never got to meet her in person but I know that she was a really pretty, smart, and a kind girl. Me and Shelby FaceTimed almost everyday and played video games, and if I needed to share anything with her she would listen and tell me what she thought about the situation. She became my best friend and I loved her with all my heart I'm gonna miss talking to her, laughing with her, and singing with her. 🩷🩷

Breaks my heart having to write this . It all seems so unreal . My condolences to the family and friends during this difficult time. Shelby and my daughter were best friends for the last few years and we both had the opportunity to experience Shelby's beautiful spirit. I've never met anyone of any age as resilient as Shelby Rooks. Despite all that she went through, she remained joyful, kind and so full of life . Her optimism amazed me and she became close to my heart early on. My perspective on life has changed for the better. Shelby was a great classmate and friend. She was very thoughtful and caring. I am glad I had the amazing opportunity to spend the year with her because she inspired me in so many ways. She always brought positive energy into the room. I enjoyed sharing a cabin with her at Wahsega and jump roping with her. I also enjoyed working with her during the Color and Culture rehearsals. I'm so blessed to have met Shelby. Throughout all of the obstacles she faced in her time here she never let it get her down. She taught me to live life to the fullest everyday because that's what she did. That beautiful smile will always live in my mind and I won't complain when life gets tough.

Shelby was always so positive and happy. As a student, she never complained about anything - she actually asked for more work!! In just a year, she managed to make so many friends and touch so many people's lives in Decatur. I will miss joking around with her in class and doing silly TikTok trends. I will miss sharing what yummy food we want to eat on the weekends (usually Cajun for her and sushi for me!). I will miss her beautiful singing voice.
