Obituary For Lonnie Henry Young
Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Lonnie Henry Young, will be held Monday, December 28, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at The Chapel of Donald Trimble Mortuary. Reverend Joyce C. Young, Associate Minister of Big Bethel A.M.E Church, Officiating. Interment, South-View Cemetery, 1990 Jonesboro Rd., Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 27, 2020 12:00 NOON until 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
Cherishing his loving memories are his son, Brian C. Young; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Young; grandchildren, Camryn, Candace, Caitlin, and Bayleigh Young; brother, Roland Young; sister-in-law, Supervisor Dr. Dorothy Jackson Young (McKinley); lifelong friend, Bill Fuller; former spouse, Gloria Kelly; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the mortuary at 10:30 A.M. Donald Trimble Mortuary, Inc., 1876 Second Avenue, Decatur, 404-371-0772-3.

I just learned of Lonnie's transition. My heart is breaking. I was personally acquainted with the entire Young family - Lonnie, McKinley, Nellie, and Roland. We were all members of Big Bethel A.M.E. Church and sang in the choir together. Later, when I was enrolled at Georgia Tech while Lonnie was also a student there. I was always in awe of his utter mathematical genius. To his surviving family members: I now join you in your grief over the loss of one of the kindest, gentlest persons I've ever known. May he rest in eternal peace.
