My heartfelt condolences to the countless loved ones of Reverend John Butler, who we affectionately called John L, growing up at Bell Missionary Baptist Church in Auburn, AL. I was younger, but it was a pleasure to sing with him in the choir. I believe that the most requested song for him to lead was "Didn't It Rain", and the Church was on fire for the Lord. So many great memories. I was delighted to connect with him again after I moved to Atlanta, and attended programs with my best friend whose Mother and other relatives sang in The Masonics Choir. I was able to attend his church as well. Rest well, Reverend Butler. You deserve it.
To the Family and the Church, we mourn with you in the passing of this Giant and General in the Body of Christ. He exemplified a true Shepherd's heart, a loving Dad, and an excellent Husband. The depth of his impact and imprint in my life is eternal. Preaching me out of hell, praying me through in the Holy Ghost, modeling Christ in everyday living, and loving me as one of his own.... Thank God for a life well-lived and now a reward well-deserved. Servant, well done!!!
All I have to say is THANK GOD for PAPA!!!! THANK YALL FOREVER AND EVER FOR SHARING THIS PRECIOUS SOUL WITH ALL OF US. LORD HELP THE FAMILY DURING THIS TIME. I LOVE YALL

A Sacred Salute to Rev. J.E. Butler From the Atlanta Christian Youth Seminar (CYS)
We, the Atlanta Christian Youth Seminar family, bow in reverence to the sovereign will of God as we celebrate the life, labor, and legacy of Rev. J.E. Butler — a general in God's army, a guardian of the gospel, and a guide to generations.
Rev. Butler didn't just preach sermons — he poured oil. He didn't just serve a church — he shepherded souls. His life was a living epistle, written by grace and read by all who encountered his anointing.
Though we feel the sting of his absence, we rejoice in the strength of his testimony. He has laid down his sword — but his stand still speaks. He has ascended from labor to reward — and heaven is richer because he's there.
We extend our deepest prayers to the Butler family and to all who mourn this mighty man of God. His voice may rest, but his vision still lives. His body may be still, but his legacy marches on.
Rest well, Reverend. Your race is finished. Your reward is sure. Your impact is eternal.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." — Matthew 25:21
With love and honor, Jeffrey Fields Atlanta Christian Youth Seminar (CYS)
