Dear Essie and Family, In response to the loss of your beloved husband, Toney Stephens, in his passing, it is my sincere acknowledgement of your loss. No words can truly remove the anxiety you and your family are experiencing. Know that when our prayers go up, God's blessings begin to flow and healing begins. He is your angel and will forever be. Another that has me heartbroken. He was like family like an Uncle. He was Uncle "Toney". A very kind, smart and gentle man. Let me not forget "funny." Enjoyed every "SUPER BOWL" gathering that he would open up his beautiful gorgeous home to lots of people. I will dare not forget the food. Some would just come to eat.😀 The food was just that delicious! He would have pretty much "EVERYTHING" that you would want and could eat, and yes there was always enough for seconds and yes for one to take home with you, sometimes a lot of us would leave with more than one plate. He would always have a secret stash of something set aside for me and my mother who loved going to UNCLE TONEY'S HOUSE for the "SUPER BOWL." Now she really went for the food. For those that knew my Mom, knew such a small statue she had and kept. She couldn't wait until SUPER BOWL so she could get to "Unk's". Although she would cheer for any team. She too would walk out with a SPECIAL GIFT Unk would give her that I wouldn't know about until we got back home. That was one of the last things she asked me about before she got sick and before she transitioned 11 years ago now. She still would ask about "UNC'S SUPER BOWL." She was a bit sad when I had to tell her that he had stopped having it. When she couldn't go with me and others, she would look forward to me bringing her a plate back, especially the collard greens and cornbread. Truthfully a lot of us were sad when he stopped having them. Thanks Unc for such a great time. Thanks to you too Auntie Essie. I'm not able to be there because of a doctor's appointment, but just know my thoughts and heart will definitely be there with you ALL. No matter what the love will ALWAYS be in MY HEART.
