Beverly C. Portis of Montgomery, AL, passed away on March 1, 2026. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Saint James Methodist Church, 9045 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL, Dr. Harrison Bell, Pastor, and Dr. Lester Spencer officiating. She will be laid to rest at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, under the care of E. G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family hour will be one hour before the funeral service at the church.

Sincere Condolences to the Portis Family. Ms. Beverly Portis is a precious soul who is remembered from my school days. I pray Jesus will give you comfort during this time of sadness. She will be remembered and was loved by so many.
To the family of Mrs. Beverly Portis, I was a student of this wonderful lady and teacher at Dunbar High School years ago. I graduated from Dunbar in 1969 but she was one of the greatest Teacher of my life time and I send my sincere condolences too her family and she will be greatly missed. She loved teaching and was a very educated Teacher for us. I will cherish her memory for as long as I live. My prayers are with her family. Love Mrs. Whitlock
