Eugene Garrick Hayes, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on August 28, 2024. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church, 860 East Grove Street, Montgomery, AL, 36104, with Pastor Cameron Thomas officiating. The staff of E. G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, September 6, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Alpha Phi Alpha Omega Service will be Friday, September 6, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Hayes will lie in repose one hour before the funeral service at the church. Mr Hayes was the head of the History Dept at Jefferson Davis H.S. He was always, always the most well dressed man in the building and indeed he was the smartest where U. S. History and Economics were concerned..He made us all so very proud to know him. What an awesome example he was to his family to his friends and to his students.
