REST IN PARADISE, MR. KENNEDY!
Dretta, it is with heartfelt sincerity, that I will truly miss the "Man", I called my 2nd "Father", your "Dad", Mr. Lee Kennedy. He was a great father. and leader! It is because of him that I learned to save canned goods and other vital food items, for a rainy day. Spending so much time at your house as best friends afforded me that constant time around him, too. Rejoice, Mr. Kennedy, because you are now truly in the "Land of the Living", with streets of gold. Sincerely, Yolanda Williams Hawkins-Umojamay, Atlanta, Ga.
It saddens me to learn of the passing of my good friend, Lee A. Kennedy. He was a man for whom I held great respect and admiration as one of Montgomery's pioneering Black Bus Drivers. I learned to have great respect for city lines bus drivers, following the stories that he shared with me regarding his trials and tribulations during the early years of integrated bus transportation in Montgomery. Lee became a resource person who had great recollections of events and personalities which helped to shape the Montgomery that we now live in. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.
