Retired Sergeant Nexton Phillip Marshall, Jr., of Montgomery, AL, passed away on May 20, 2026. A funeral service will take place Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 3108 Rosa L. Parks Ave., 36105, with Pastor Richard T. Williams, II officiating. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, under the direction of E. G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is set for Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by the Omega Ceremony of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Marshall will lie in repose one hour before the funeral at the church.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Nexton. Even though it has been years since we worked together, I have always remembered him with great respect and appreciation. He was more than a coworker, he was a mentor, someone who offered guidance, wisdom, and encouragement in a way that made a lasting impact.
