To Faye, Dorian, Tori and Family

Sheryl and I enjoyed a long, enduring friendship consisting of memories too many to recount in a few words. Our friendship started in the classrooms and hallways of St. Jude Educational Institute from first grade, extending through high school and many years beyond. We learned to read, write, debate and excel in all levels of our journey together. We also engaged in other activities - cheerleading, school plays, sports, choir, school newspaper, etc. We participated in events within our communities - all of the above underscored by remarkable families who supported us and each other.

I am thankful to Sheryl for her kind and nurturing qualities. I got to witness them with her family and in her devotion to enhancing opportunities for others around her, especially, children. She did so in conjunction with her husband, John, with RBI and via her efforts within various church and social organizations.

I am blessed to have known Sheryl and she has been truly blessed by our Heavenly Father! She will be missed.

I grew up playing softball for RBI in Los Angeles under John Young. Mrs. Young was the quintessential southern woman. She was a mother to all of us. I remember she packed me and all the graduating seniors a care package for college. It was a lavender basket filled with toiletries and goodies. I still have that lavender basket! Thank you so much Mrs. Young for your love, and allowing your husband John Young so much time away from home to spend with us. It changed the entire trajectory of my life. I never got to meet Sheryl but I knew her father and I'm very close to her cousin, Wm. Kelly Shannon. My condolences to Kelly and the entire Shannon family.
