William Lee Sankey, Sr., 78, a resident of Montgomery, AL, departed this life on September 8, 2024, while hospitalized. He was the son of Charlie and Ora Sankey. He was the owner of FreshCraft Cabinets after completing 17 years of employment in the position of psychologist with the State of Alabama Corrections Department. A veteran of the Vietnam War era, he graduated from Carver High School in 1964 and from Alabama State University in 1968. Before being drafted for the Vietnam War, he worked on his doctoral degree at Emory University, Georgia. He is survived by two loving siblings, 4 children, the devoted mother of his children, his 2-year-old granddaughter, and other loved grandchildren, family members and friends.
The funeral service will be officiated at New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 901 Alexander Street, Montgomery, AL, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL. The remains will be open for viewing one hour prior to the funeral service.
