Ms. Brenda Black Littlejohn, 73, of Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born on October 18, 1947 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Eli Black, Sr. and the late Geneva Hopper Black.
Brenda attended Cleveland School. She was formerly employed with Autumn Years in Shelby as a nutritionist. Brenda loved going to Bingo Gameland before her health declined. She also loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach and Orlando, Florida. She loved cooking for her beautiful grandchildren and she also loved watching Little House on the Prairie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest H. Littlejohn; her daughter, Priscilla D. Black; six sisters, Cola Chapman, Margie Black, Annie Haynes, Joan Hopper, Teresa Oates and Annette Olgesby and five brothers, Eli Black, Jr., Robert Lee Black, Thomas Smith and Elder Kenneth H. Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her daughter, Carissa Littlejohn of the home; one step-daughter, Diana Lyles (Richard) of Rock Hill, SC; two grandchildren, Cameya Littlejohn and Caleb Littlejohn both of the home; five sisters, Marilyn Washington (Gary), Shirley Banks (Charles), Cindy Smith, Pamela Smith, Pansy Davidson (Eddie) all of Shelby; one brother, Elder Sherwood Smith of Shelby; one special god-daughter, Tacara ‘Peaches” Johnson of Gaffney, SC; one god-son, Bruce Whisnant of Shelby; two special nieces, Felecia Whitworth of Shelby and Shacona Black of Gaffney, SC; two special nephews, Brian and Robert Black both of Shelby and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends who were dear to her.
The funeral service for Ms. Littlejohn will be private. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook starting at 2:15 PM on Tuesday. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Shiloh Baptist Church from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby, NC.
