Obituary For Carl Francis Lawrence, Sr.

Mr. Carl Francis Lawrence, Sr., 62, of 714 Yelton Drive, Lawndale, NC, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Atrium Health Concord, NC. He was born on January 2, 1962, in Cleveland County, NC to Frank Lawrence and the late Mary Edwards Lawrence.

Carl has been a dedicated truck driver for over 35 years and employed at Tindal Corporation for eight years. He was a devoted member and trustee at Maple Springs Baptist Church where he loved Pastor Dover and his church family very much. He was also a long time member of Shelby Golden Bulls and Men of Purpose. He loved to go fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by three sisters, Lenora Lawrence Wilson, Sharon Pat Lawrence, and Barbara Lawrence Strong and brother-in-law, Bobby Strong.

Carl leaves to cherish his loving memories; one son, Carl Lawrence Jr. (Kesha) of Gastonia, NC, two daughters, Shekeena Lawrence (Johnnie Lee Peeler Sr.) and Helenia Lawrence both of Shelby, NC; his father, Elder Franklin Lawrence Sr. (Min. Marie) of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Phyllis Lawrence Toms (Dwight) of Shelby, NC. and Vibbie Starr of Hickory, NC; three brothers, Elder Franklin Lawrence Jr. (Kathryn) of Lawndale, NC, Ford Lawrence Sr. (Wanda) and Thomas Lawrence Sr. (Melissa) both of Shelby, NC, three granddaughters, Dayonna Goodlett, Kimora Lawrence, and Camiya Lawrence; one grandson, JJ Peeler; one great-granddaughter, Leilani Grier; a special friend, Jonquil Stuard, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Shelby, NC at 2:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. All other times the family is receiving friends daily from 12 noon until 6 p.m. at 1107 Mark Drive, Shelby, NC.

Burial will take place at Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Lawndale NC.

I was saddened and in disbelief when I heard the news of my cool 😎 shade wearing customer and comical cut up buddy Carl AKA Cool C as I called him. Carl was a good hearted and nice person. No matter where you ran into him at, his kindred personality was always the same and his big beautiful smile and dimples. He always gave you a hug and made you laugh. I'm going to miss my buddy.
