Mr. Charles P. Norris, 87, of Shelby, NC departed this life on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Atrium Health- Cleveland in Shelby. He was born on January 23, 1933 to the late Clara Norris.
He proceed in death by his mother, Ms. Clara Norris; his grandparents, Mrs. Eliza Lee Norris and Mr. Pleas Norris Jr.; his great grandmother, Mrs. Melissa Lee; great grandfathers, Mr. Pleas Norris, Sr. and Mr. Nathan Lee (census 1870); and a grandson, Mr. Tirand Norris.
Before retiring Mr. Norris worked as a cook using his homemade BBQ sauces at All-Day BBQ, Alston BBQ, VFW, later he was a bread-line worker at Bost Baker, Inc. until it closed in 1992. Later he became the Raleigh Man, self-employed until his failing health. Mr. Norris enjoyed family and friends gatherings with a lot of food and laughter. He believed in family knowing their history, eating well, loving each other and prayer.
He is survived by his son, Charles “Cornell” Norris of Shelby; his son, Calvin B. Hamrick of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Deborah R. Coleman of Shelby; grandchildren, Nickoles Norris (Kim) and Charles Norris (Vickie) both of Shelby, Bernard Hamrick of Charlotte, and Sarah K. Coleman of Shelby; twelve great-grandchildren, a nephew, Jonathon "John-John" McKinney and many other relatives and friends.
The service for Mr. Norris will be a private one. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:30 on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel.
