Charles Robert Ross, Jr., 65, of 1744 Stoney Point Road, Shelby, NC, passed away on February 21, 2024, at his residence. Charles was born on May 19, 1958, to the late Charles Robert Ross, Sr. and Melvina Wilson Ross.
Charles was self-employed as an entrepreneur, owning Ross Construction, a tree cutting service and doing anything outside. Charles was also employed previously by Benny Carson, working as a grader, and Beam Construction. He was a very hard worker and great family provider. He was the epitome of the three P’s: provider, protector, and professed his love for his wife Mary.
Charles’ family called him Charlie Horse after watching many episodes of Bonanza. He loved to eat lobster and chicken breast. He loved traveling, taking spontaneous trips when the spirit led he and Mary. He was a volunteer for Washington Outreach Ministry. Charles attended Washington Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a member of the Usher Board until his health declined.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Ross and a niece, Faith Webber.
Charles is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Parrott Ross; three sons, Charles ‘Chuckie’ Ross, III (Tameika), John Chavis Ross, and Nicholas Parrott, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, Tajaie Ross, Diamond Ross, and Kynzja Glover; brothers, Thomas Ross (Lavonda), Audrey Webber (Rev. Charles Webber), and Ronald Ross (Brenda), all of Shelby; Adrian Ross (Linda) of Charlotte, Vincent ‘Dale’ Ross (Lakieta) of Gastonia; two aunts, Evelyn Haynes of Shelby and Sue Wilson of Florida; two uncles, Robert Wilson of Shelby and Jersey Wilson of Charlotte, NC; sisters in law, Rosa Rose, Robbie Lee, Debra Howell (Calvin), Staria Littlejohn (Jimmy), Cheryl Parrott (Patrick), and Karen Bonner (Rev. Scott Bonner); brother in law, Randolph Parrott (Annette); caregivers, James Glenn, Neal Savage and Ryan Silvia of Healthy Touch, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
