Clay Morgan Borders was born in Shelby, NC to Weldon David and Jennie B. Borders January 3, 1963. He left this earthly life Feb 8, 2022. As a child, he was small in nature and his uncle said, “he was no bigger than a Jaybird”, and from early on in life, Clay became known as Jaybird.
Clay “Jaybird” graduated from Burns High School, where he enjoyed playing baseball. He loved nature and enjoyed working with his hands. Jaybird worked at Beam Construction for more than 20 years as a laborer; helping to build school buildings and other structures we see in the community. Clay was a servant at heart serving as a member of the usher board and volunteering at Washington Outreach Ministry. Jaybird was always respectful to others, his outspoken and jovial demeanor touched anyone that knew him. He understood the value and true meaning of family and loved spending time with family. He was always present at family gatherings and was an integral part of our family joy and happiness.
Jaybird was social and created a memorable moment with anyone that encountered him. Jaybird had a jovial spirit and lived life with zest. He taught us that unconditional love surpasses all. God has richly blessed our lives with Clay “Jaybird” Morgan Borders.
