Mrs. Dorcas Schenck Ross departed this life on Friday, February 18, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Thomas Alfred Schenck and the late Lora Mull Schenck.
Mrs. Ross was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church of Lawndale, NC and she loved cooking for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Ross, Sr.; son, Robert Lee Ross, Jr.; infant daughter, Sharon Ross; daughter, Maxine Oates; grandsons, Steven Degree and Keith Hopper; great-granddaughter, Milani Mai Carson; brothers, Charles “Boot” Schenck, Warren G. Schenck and Gerald Schenck and sisters, Portia Elmore, Marion Wormley, Catherine Gleen and Bernice Schenck.
She leaves to cherish fond memories to her daughters, Bathine Ross and Gwendolyn Surratt; son, Rickie Ross (Linda); granddaughters, Wanda Ross, Tracy Ross, Arnitra Oates, Yolandra Eskridge (Frank) and Shannon Ross; grandsons, Rodney Hopper (Doris), Chad Ross (Nicole), Patrick Hopper (Cheryl), Rodriguez Robbs, Antonio Ross, (Kelly), John Oates, Jr., Ricky Eaves, Christopher Hopper (Kim) and Gerod Ross; one sister, Patricia Schenck of Oakland, CA; sister-in-law, Lois Schenck; fifty great-grandchildren; fifty-two-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Thursday. The service will be livestreamed starting at 1:45 PM from the Enloe Mortuary Face Book page.
This is a long time friend Aileen Morrison from Charlotte, NC. Will truly miss Dorcas she had the sweetest spirit and smile. Sorry we didn't find out about her death till late. We are sending condolences to her family. Trust God for all your needs. Love y'all!
