Mr. Franklyn E. Watson of Belmont, NC age 74 departed this life on Friday, January 6, 2023 in Charlotte, NC. He was born on December 1, 1948 to Caroline Wallace in Cadiz, Ohio. He attended Cadiz Public School System. Franklyn was employed with Johnson C. Smith University for many years and was last employed with Alcohol Beverage Control Commission of Mecklenburg Co.
Franklyn attended Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church of Charlotte, NC. He enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, working on his vehicles and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Franklyn was a former member of S.L.A.G. He loved to dress nice and entertain with friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 12 years, Estelle Surratt Watson of the home; three daughters, Katherine Williams of Westerville, OH, Renee Brown (Cedric) and Tonya Brown Christopher both of Shelby, NC; three sons, Michael Watson of Yanceyville, NC, James Brown (Dartona) of Gaffney, SC and Lewis Surratt (Anitra) of Waco, NC; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Gladden, Maggie Carson both of Shelby and Alice Laborn (Roy) of Kingstown, NC; close childhood friend, Dwain Blancher of Columbus, OH and close friends, Mr. K., James Stewart, Tony Blockard, June Miller all of Charlotte and Carl Mitchell of Charleston, SC
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at S. T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM
