Helen was truly a generous soul and a beautiful spirit. The memories we have of her are a precious legacy--strength, kindness and love for all of us have supported us through the years. It is difficult to say goodbye to Helen. As poet Helen Steiner writes ,we can choose to grieve over a loved one or choose to smile over having known them. I choose to smile as I think of Helen. To the Helen Withrow Love family I express my heartfelt Sympathy ! I met her in 1963! She became basketball coach at Washington High School! I always called her Coach! She took me under her care with kindness and love! She taught me how to drive! Often when the Class of 1965 would get together we would include her! It was such a delight for her to be with us! 2 weeks ago we laugh and talked. She said I'm sending you a picture to remember me by! Coach I will always remember you! The best of the best she was my best teacher. 5th grade at Dunbar Elementary. I'll never forget her teaching us not to write outside the red margin. She pinned us up on the chalkboard if we misbehaved. She truly cared for her students. She broke a fight up once when she was done with them they were hugging. She said I will never send you to the Principal's office I take care of things myself. We learned the declaration of independence she gave lots of work. But as I said the best of the best

To the Family of Mrs. Helen Love: I could write so much about this extraordinary lady. She knew me and my family before and since I was born and from all of that she became "My Second Mama" after my own mother died. I was always amazed by her energy, her love for all mankind, her generosity, her presence in Durham United Methodist Church, her creativity, her enthusiasm, her zest for life, her ability to motivate, her love for her family, her friends, her humor, her dedication to her sorority, and her will to live through many heartbreaks and illnesses she experienced in her lifetime. She helped me so much. I have so many memories and so much love for her. "Second Mama" I miss you so, so much! I know you had a wonderful journey home.

Our family chain has been broke again. Put we rest in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! Hallelujah!!!!!!

To the family of Helen W Love: I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences for the loss of your loved one. I was so shocked to learn of Helen's passing. I have known her and her family for many years. Her graciousness will never be forgotten. She was the reason I could finish Washington High School and graduate with my class. after we moved out of the school district. She allowed me to commute back and forth with her everyday, since she was a faculty member at Washington High School. It was a blessing that she happened to live close by. She assisted my mom with transportation during my college years by driving her to Greensboro NC if I needed something. She was my basketball coach and at certain times, she was a "big sister." I will always remember her as a kind ,gracious and independent woman. Keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.
