Ms. Ida Mae Nichols, 78, of Shelby, NC, was born on December 26, 1946, in Cleveland County, NC, to the late James Rogers and Hazel Gilmore Roberts. She departed this life on March 20, 2025, at Atrium Health Cleveland.

Ida Mae was employed by Burlington Mills for many years before retiring early. She loved the Lord and attended church when she was able to. She loved spending time with family and friends. Her special hobbies were cooking and fishing.

Ida Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. C. Nichols; eight sisters, Cora Gass, Flossie Farr, Dorothy Reid, Margaret Guinn, Juanita Gamble, Sarah Smith, and Rosalee Moore; five brothers, Melvin Roberts, Eugene Roberts, Jimmy Rogers, Joe Dean Robets, and Nathaniel (Stick) Roberts.

She is survived by four sons, Calvin Roberts, David Nichols, Jack Nichols, and Jonathan Nichols; two sisters, Geneva Ellis (Butch) and Ethel Rogers; two brothers, Ernest Roberts and Bobby Dean Rogers; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; special daughter Denise Allen; special niece Patti Dawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Enloe Mortuary was in charge of services.
