Mr. James Robert Starr, 70, of Lawndale, NC departed this life on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He was born on August 2, 1950 to the late Alexander Starr and the late Sadie Roseboro Starr.
James worked for Century Furniture and Spangler Concrete until he later moved to Washington, DC where he worked as a furniture mover until his health declined and he moved back to North Carolina in 2020. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Starr; four uncles, Thomas, Dan, Bob and John and 3 aunts, Connie Roseboro Sherill, Sue Roseboro Thompson and Ella Roseboro McCain and one nephew, Darren Starr.
James leaves to cherish fond memories of him to one son, Patrick Hopper (Cheryl) of Lawndale, NC; one daughter, Yolandra Roxanne Eskridge (Frank) of Lawndale; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Starr (Vibbie) of Conover, NC; one uncle, Lester Roseboro; niece, Windy Starr of Shelby; best friend, Ted Lenox; special cousin, Retia Sue Sanford; special friend, Debbie Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends from North Carolina and Washington DC.
A private memorial service is planned. The family is meeting at 117 Schenck Farm Rd. in Lawndale.
