Mrs. Betty Jeanette Byrd Grimes,75, of Hickory N.C. departed this life Wednesday, April. 26, 2023, at Dallas Medical City, Dallas TX.
A native of Cleveland County, She was the daughter of the late Fred Byrd Sr. and Louise Blaire Byrd and was born on Jan. 16, 1948. She was eccentric, she never met a stranger.
She enjoyed good food, and flowers, and loved barbeque skins, and reading the Bible. Her favorite scripture is, βEven as fools walk along the road, they lack sense and show everyone how stupid they areβ Ecc. 10:3 NIV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Grimes, Jr; brother Fred Byrd Jr. (Pete), and sister Lucille Petty.
Left to cherish one son, Donovan Lamar Grimes (Cynthia), of Shelby; one daughter, Katrina Chamberlain, (Donald Chamberlain) of Fort Worth TX; one brother, Frank Byrd of Hickory N.C., two sisters Annie Goforth and Martha Shade, both of Kingstown N.C.; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. special friend, Bernice Hector of Lawndale; one brother-in-law Willie James Grimes of Lawndale N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Perkins of Shelby N.C.; Mattie Bell Vinson and Lucy Vinson both of Lawndale N.C.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Lawndale Church. The service will be livestreamed starting at 12:45PM from Enloe Mortuary FaceBook Page. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM at the church and at other times 140 Falls Street. Burial will take at Palmer Grove Baptist Church.
