Obituary For LaQuandra Wray

Miss LaQuandra Charletra “Scoot” Wray of Shelby, NC departed this life on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby. She was born on October 5, 1980 in Cleveland County, NC to Nell Wray and Pink Bell Degree (Sarah) both of Shelby.

“Scoot” was a 1998 graduate of Crest High School and was last employed with Walmart Supercenter of Shelby. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. “Scoot” will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her very caring spirit. She would light up a room with her optimism and humor. Her love of life and devotion to her family was an inspiration.

In addition to her parents, she leaves to cherish fond memories, her son, Kendall Ahmad Wray of the home; two sisters, Tisa W. McDowell (Ronald) and Kamisha Degree both of Shelby; two brothers, Timothy Degree of Charlotte, NC and Richard Degree of GA; grandparents, Earlene Youngblood and Willie A. Wray both of Shelby; a special friend of 15 years, Steven “Big Steve” Wright and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday. Masks are required if you are attending the service or reception of friends. The service will be livestreamed via Enloe Mortuary’s Facebook page starting at 12:45 PM.

Oh my heart is so broken to learn of this precious, funny and beautiful soul passing. I visited her as her home health nurse but let me tell you, she made me laugh and smile at every single visit. She was such a blessing to me and one of the most special people I met along my nursing career. You will be missed my sweet friend. Much love to her family.
