Obituary For Loretta Bess

Mrs. Margaret Loretta Bess, 60, of 418 Hobbs Ave. Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Cleveland County, NC on May 24,1959 to Martha Whitworth Dawkins and the late Joe Louis Dawkins, Sr.

“Loretta” was a graduate of Shelby High School. She was employed with Hughes Behavior until her passing and enjoyed helping those in need. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Loretta was a truth telling straight-forward person who enjoyed life.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by four brothers, John Whitworth, Billy Dawkins, Tim Sanders and Donald Dawkins and a sister, Sheryl Little.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Donetta Bess of the home; her husband, Donald Bess of Shelby; her mother, Martha Dawkins of Shelby; brothers, Joe Dawkins, Jr. (Carolyn) of Lincolnton, NC and Paul Dawkins of Shelby; sisters, Esther Dawkins (Kelly Bell) and Reca Brooks (Winford) both of Shelby; her good friend, Delores Pearson of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the service for Mrs. Bess will be private. She may be viewed on Friday, March 20, 2020 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Also on Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. They are receiving friends at her home and at 121 Carolina Place in Shelby.

My dearest friend, Loretta, bless,I'm saddened to hear she has passed. Just ran into her three weeks ago. Since we worked together at Universal in Grover.We always had lots of laughs, worked hard together. She was doing what she loved when I ran into her. Sitting with those that needed her. I was truly happy she had found her true purpose in life. Always wearing a smile. We'd spoke before I was going to work as well. Over we both had found out purpose in life. While she was sitting and helping others. Here I was in my business cleaning for others. We had this in common with each other. I'm happy to know that my Christian friend was serving our Lord Jesus Christ. Now,my friend has passed thru those pearly gates and sitting at the right hand of God. Shes earned her Heavenly Crown. I will miss you my friend of many years, but we will meet again, when it comes my time. Sending prayers of Peace ,Understanding and Comfort to the loving family. God bless, Angie Borders

My heart is hurting and a space of a good friend and classmate who I will miss playing spade and talking about the good times and how the Lord brought us out of the darkness. Love you and always keep you in my heart. I will always see the smile that you carried everyday.
