Lucille Brown
Maggie Lucille Brown entered eternal peace on Friday, May 27, 2022. The daughter of the late Emmanuel Jack Black and the late Irene Good Black, she was born September 16, 1937, in Blacksburg, SC. Lucille married Hassie Lee Brown on December 24, 1959.
A 1958 graduate of Granard High School, Lucille held various positions in her work career which include Monsanto, Fasco Controls, Magnolia Finishing Plant, and eventually retiring from Cleveland County Schools Food Services.
Besides her love of sewing, Lucille was an enthusiast of the outdoors. She and her husband Lee spent many years growing and maintaining vegetable gardens, and she sincerely loved raising and sharing many varieties of flowers and plants. She also maintained bird feeders throughout her yard for her feathered friends. On any given day visitors to her home would find her outside enjoying God’s gifts of nature and wildlife.
She never met a stranger and her winning smile charmed everyone she encountered. A lifelong member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church, Lucille served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Mixed Choir, and Senior Missionaries.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Hassie Lee Brown, her parents Emmanuel Jack Black and Irene Good Black, and two brothers Nesbitt Black and Emanuel Black.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Joe Lee Brown of Kings Mountain, NC, Harold Brown ( Janice) of Concord, NC, Benjamin Brown (Sharanda) of Shelby, NC, Cynthia Brown Reid of Kings Mountain, NC; two brothers, David Black (Veronica) of Upper Marlboro, MD, James Black (Louise) of Grover, NC, and three sisters, Josephine Black of Gaffney, SC, Evelyn Crosby of Shelby, NC, Edith Humphries (Doug) of Blacksburg, SC; sister-in-law Sally Burris Black; four grandchildren Antonio Brown, Angelica Brown, Justice Brown and Caitlyn Brown; and many nieces and nephews which she adored.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Youngs’s Grove Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The service will be livestreamed starting at 12:15 PM from the Enloe Mortuary Face Book page. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM at the church.

I got the pleasure of knowing Lucille when I started working in the cafeteria at Grover School in 1997. I have so many good memories of her. She would call me Hughes and I called her Brown! We worked together several years, then continued to be friends. She was such a wonderful, sweet friend. I will always have a place in my heart for her. Love you Brown...Patty Hughes

When ever I have visited her home she always welcome me with warmth & kindness. She will be missed by all who loved her. She had an anointed hands with planting vegetable & Flower gardens. I remember working in the lunchroom with Ms. Lucille at Grover Elementary, back when We had to actually cook the food. Miss Lucille was such a joy to work with and had a joyful spirit she will be greatly missed Sandra Lawrence
