Melvin Gene “Bo” Haynes made his entrance into the world on Sunday, November 10th, 1946 at the Bliss Center in Lawndale, North Carolina. GOD called him home to HEAVEN at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, 2020, while battling COVID-19.
He was the seventh child and the fifth son born to the late Wade and Minnie Bell Whaley Haynes. He received his education at Douglas High School and in Lawndale, North Carolina. He accepted CHRIST into his life at an early age and attended various churches through the years. He was employed with E.R. Carpenter in both Long View and Conover, NC for many years, and retired from Carolina Foam and Fiber in Conover, North Carolina.
He met the love of his life, Mary Alice Cline, in 1968 and married her on Saturday, 1968 in Gaffney, South Carolina. To their union was born three beautiful children; Jonathan Scott Haynes, Regenia Leigh Haynes and Tonya Annette Haynes.
In addition to his parents - Wade and Minnie Bell Whaley Haynes, he was preceded in death by his his only wife, Mary Alice Cline Haynes Ramseur; three sisters - Barbara Ann Haynes Ussery and Eva Mae Haynes Ussery (Grover Cleveland), and Betty Sue Haynes Clemmons (Leonard Clemmons); four brothers - Calvin Haynes, Charlie Leroy Haynes, James Edward “Dean” Haynes (Izzie Mae McMullins Haynes) and Gerald Thomas Haynes, Sr.; one sister-in-law - Willie Mae Petty Haynes; two nephews - Darryl Devaughn Haynes and Cameron Nicholas Long; his paternal grandparents - Charlie and Alice Richardson Haynes; his maternal grandparents - George and Cora Greenard Whaley; and his parents-in-law - George Garfield and Ruby Lineberger Cline.
Left to cherish his loving memory is his Son - Jonathan Scott Haynes (Kristie Benfield Haynes) of Conover, NC; two Daughters - Regenia Leigh Haynes (Thomas Parson) of Hickory, NC and Tonya Annette Haynes Evans (Vincent Evans) of Rocky Mount, NC; two Brothers - Wade Haynes, Jr. aka “June” of Hickory, NC and Richard Alexander “Dickie” Haynes of Kingstown, NC; two Sisters-In-Law - Ruby Sawyer Haynes of Shelby, NC and Gloria Glover Haynes of Kingstown, NC; one Brother-In-Law - Elder Charlie Ussery of Shelby, NC; seven Grandchildren - Erica Derr of Hickory, NC, SSgt Vantrel England of Alamogordo, NM; Jeremey England of Maiden, NC, Andre Derr, Jr. aka “AJ” of Hickory, NC; Sharnee England Cox (Robert Cox) in Pittsboro, NC; Tevin James of Hickory, NC and Jalen Gibbs of Newton, NC; ten Great-Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Haynes will be private. Burial will take place at Palmer Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Haynes may be viewed on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at S. T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM at the chapel on Wednesday.
