Obituary For Ms. Christine Morris

Ms. Christine Pettyjohn Morris, 69 of 1250 Shelby Highway in Cherryville, NC departed this life on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. A native of Lincoln County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Golden Pettyjohn, Sr. and Beaunetter Barnes Pettyjohn.

Christine attended Lincoln County Schools and graduated from Newbold High School. She was a former employee of the textile industry working for many years until her health began to decline.

Christine was a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and became a mother to many of their friends. She enjoyed cooking everyday especially on Sundays with anticipation of the family getting together to enjoy a meal and spend quality time with each other.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jermale Hopper; a sister, Ruth Barnes Jenkins and two brothers, Golden Pettyjohn, Jr. and Elmer Pettyjohn.

Left to cherish fond memories are her children, Bernard Ramsey of Cherryville, NC, Derrick Ramsey (Phyllis) of Shelby, NC, Demetrica Morris of Crouse, NC and Ricky Morris of Shelby; ten grandchildren, Rasheem Hosch, Ricky Morris, Jr., Devasea Morris, Tamara Morris, Darius Ramsey, Breiona Ramsey, Jasmine Hopper, Adarerious Taylor, Javareious Starr and Javontavious Starr; five great-grandchildren, Zaylie Morris, Avery Morris, Zachari Hopper, Antoine Kee and Avion Kee; two brothers, David Pettyjohn (dec. Patricia) of Shelby and Johnny Wayne Pettyjohn of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Frances Jenkins (Horace) of Charlotte, NC and Ruby Nell Pettyjohn of Shelby; daughter-in-law, Lakisha Vinson; one uncle, Frank Pettyjohn; one aunt, Annie Mae Smith; a special friend of 30 years, Edward Tuft and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
