Obituary For Ms. Jessie Roberts

Mrs. Jessie Mae Hopper Roberts was born on November 17, 1955 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Jess Junior Morrow and the late Mayola Hopper. She fought a long battle with cancer and God chose to give her rest and take away her pain on April 21, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.

Jessie attended Shelby High School and received her G.E.D. and her CNA licensure from Cleveland Community College. She worked at several nursing facilities and it was her nature to help and care for others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Roberts; eldest son, John Franklin “Jump” Hopper; brothers, Andrew Hopper and Pink “P.K.” Hopper; a nephew raised as a brother, Alonzo Alton “Zo: Jones; her nephew, Demyris “Myris” Roberts and best friend and companion of 12 years, Roy Hosch.

She leaves to cherish fond and precious memories, her daughter, Shannon Dawann Hopper; a son, Martineous Leon Hopper; a sister, Oinette “Tina” Roberts; a brother, Joe Lewis Morrow; nineteen grandchildren, four of whom were raised in the home, Wykovia Hopper, Chyna Hopper, Shante Hopper and Shamyia Hopper; ten great-grandchildren; a special niece, Tabatha Degree-Littlejohn and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Temple in Grover, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM at the church.
