Mr. Raven Leon “Lump” Guest, 64, of Kings Mountain, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Atrium Health- Cleveland in Shelby, NC. He was born on February 3, 1956 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Sarah Guest and the late Clarence Withrow.
Raven was a 1974 graduate of Crest High School. He was employed with First Baptist Church of Shelby for sixteen years. “Lump” as he was affectionately called by many was the life of any event. He was a known jokester who enjoyed cooking, especially grilling out and he loved listening to music and he loved to dance. He also was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Guest Way and father, Clarence Withrow (Betty).
Left to cherish wonderful and lasting memories are his wife of 41 years, Cynthia Smith Guest of Grover, NC; step-father, Willis Way of Newark, NJ; two sons, Travis Smith (Misty) of Gastonia, NC and Cedric Smith of Grover, NC; two daughters, Tamisha Clark (Victor) of Lexington, NC and Tina Gist (Jaffray) of Kings Mountain, NC; two brothers, Keith Way and Willis Way, Jr. both of NJ; three sisters, Sharon Withrow (Tommy) and Karen Walton (William) both of Charlotte, NC and Rhonda Campbell of NJ; eight grandchildren; aunts, Katherine Guest and Georgia Guest both of Shelby, NC and Mabel Lawson of CT; uncles, Scott Guest (Annie) of Raleigh, NC, Nathan Poole of Shelby and Toney Guest (Cecelia) of NJ; brothers and sisters-in law, James Smith, Jr. of Shelby, Rufus Smith (Geneva) of Grover, NC, Nathaniel Smith (Cassandra) also of Grover, Delores Turner (Eugene) of Kings Mountain, NC, Janette Archie (James) of Grover and Iva McClain of Kings Mountain; special friends, Johnny “Red” Davis, Kenneth “K.P.” Petty and John McCluney as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral services for Mr. Guest will be private. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook starting at 1:45 PM. He may be viewed at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel on Friday January 1, 2021 from 9:00 Am until 11:00 AM. The family will be receiving friends on Friday January 1, 2021 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM and at other times 906 Boyce Street Kings Mountain, NC.

Cynthia and family I am literally heartbroken. The last time I saw Raven was at First Baptist a cpl of years ago when my grandson was taking guitar lessons there. He was a true friend and I missed him since we no longer worked together but I will truly miss him now!!!
