Mr. Raymond McKinney, 70, of 841 East Main Street Shelby, NC passed away on January 22, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Troy, NC on March 21, 1949 to Emma Jean Parker McKinney and the late Odell McKinney.
Raymond was a member of Christ the King Church where he served through the years. As a friendly and outgoing person, he never met a stranger.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma McKinney and Diane McKinney and two brothers, Steve McKinney and Walter McKinney.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Sherleen Hillman McKinney; his mother, Emma Jean McKinney of Troy, NC; one daughter, Barbara Greene of Lynchburg, VA; one step-daughter, Shanna Ngha of Shelby, NC; one granddaughter, Shianne Allen of Shelby; three sisters, Betty Bennett and Namio McKinney both of Troy, NC and Valerie McKinney-Kiser (Roger) of Charlotte, NC; special friends, Harold Degree, Jim Curry, Sam Brown and James King; his mother-in-law, Ella Mae Hillman of Kingstown, NC; four sisters-in-law, Alberta Marble (Thomas) and Peggy Briscoe (Leroy) both of Kingstown, Mildred Surratt of Hickory, NC and Diane Stroud of Kingstown; five brothers-in-law, Donald Hillman (Denise) of Kingstown, Ronald Hillman (Mary) of Shelby, Paul Hillman (Priscilla) and Albert Hillman all of Shelby and Richard Hillman (Laura) of Bostic, NC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 12:30 at Christ the King Church in Shelby. Burial will take place at Brooks Chapel U.M.C. Cemetery in Polkville, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM.
Mr. Raymond was the heart of the Main street neighborhood. There was not a car that would drive by, that he did not wave at. Or a person that he did not speak to. He will truly be missed. Deepest Condolences to the McKinney family.
