Mr. Richard Glover, Jr. departed this life for his eternal home on January 18, 2020 at his residence in Shelby, NC. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Richard Glover, Sr. and Katie Mathis Glover.
Mr. Glover was a member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of Clover Hill Masonic Lodge #10 in Lawndale, NC. He was retired from the N.C. Department of Corrections where he was employed for over 20 years. Always a hardworking and ambitious person, he started own his own sanding and hardwood floor refinishing business which later became Glover’s Hardwood Flooring. A humorous and easy going person, he was always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed reading his bible and was known as a man who kept his word. He loved gardening and later in life learned he loved cooking and canning. Last but not least, he loved his family and his grandchildren were his joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Glover; a son, Richard “Rick” Glover, III; four sisters and one brother.
Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Linda Wilson (Will), Cynthia McCluney (Donald) and Lorraine Borders (Gary) all of Shelby; two sisters, Doris Glover and Betty Hector both of Newton, NC; two grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM.
