Mr. Richard Ezell Surratt transitioned into his eternal rest on January 20, 2022 at his residence in Lawndale, NC. He was born in Greensboro, NC.
Richard was a 1971 graduate of Burns High School where he was a drummer in the band. He was employed with Smurfit Stone for ten years before retiring. He enjoyed playing basketball and woodworking.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Lee Surratt Peeler; his grandparents, Necatur and Gertrude Surratt; granddaughter, Madysen Victoria Sadler; brother, Jimmy Lee Peeler and numerous aunts and uncles.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Victoria Elmore Surratt; a daughter, LaQuetta Surratt-Sadler (Christopher) of Kings Moutain, NC; a son, Richard Necota Surratt of the home; granddaughter, Cassidy Nicole Surratt of Kings Mountain, NC; two sisters, Denise Sowell (Calvin) of Charlotte, NC and Renea Bradshaw (Lewis) of Shelby, NC; a nephew, Lamar Peeler (Elbony) of Shelby, NC; one aunt, Ruby Surratt of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM on Saturday. The service will be livestreamed starting at 12:45 PM from the Enloe Mortuary Face Book page.
