Obituary For Roy McGowan

Mr. Roy Randolph McGowan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. He was born on February 4, 1947 in Baltimore, MD to the late Helen McGowan and the late Roy Crawley. Roy was employed with Doran Yarn Mill years ago before his sickness. He was formerly a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he was a member of the usher board. Roy was a loving father and grandfather that will be loved and missed by so many! In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle McGowan; two brothers, William McGowan and Thomas McGowan; two grandchildren, Prince and Princess Joe; his father and mother-in-law, William and Irene Washington Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Washington McGowan; two daughters, Sharon Smith (Robert) of Boiling Springs, SC and Sharene McGowan Surratt of Spartanburg; two sisters, Delores Plenty and Dorothy McGowan both of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Sharena Houser, Brandon McGowan, Jocelyn Russell, Trevionne Watson, Jessiah Surratt Timorian Surratt, Alidiah Russell and Raven Smith; a number of grandchildren whom he gained; six great-grandchildren; a special uncle, Thomas McGowan of Vallejo, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 3:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel in Shelby. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM at the chapel and at other times at the home of his daughter, Sharon Smith, 567 Falls Cottage Run, Boiling Springs, SC.
