Ms. Ruby Coleman Aiken, 76, of 510 Durham St. Shelby, NC passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at her residence. She was born May 17, 1947 in Cherokee County, SC to the late Preston Eugene Coleman and the late Blanche Reid Coleman.
Ruby was a 1965 graduate of Camp High School and furthered her education by receiving an Associate’s degree in Science from Cleveland Community College. She was employed with Rutland Plastics for 14 years before she retired.
As as a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Earl, Ruby was the choir director for over 40 years and she also was active with the youth in her younger days. Ruby enjoyed traveling and loved her family and was a medical advocate for many members of her family. As a heart plant recipient herself, she became passionate about giving people knowledge of the importance of being on the donor list.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Coleman and a brother, Jason Coleman.
She leaves to cherish fond memories to her daughter, Suzanne Fisher (Wendell) of Woodbridge, VA; a brother, Joe Coleman (Ann) of Houston, TX; a sister, Frances Woods of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Lakisha Lawrence, Brittney Wray, Brandon Young, Keshan Kennedy, Calee Davis, Breyona Davis and Chloe Fisher; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joyce Coleman of Shelby; god-children, Eugene Leach, Lavita Rhodes and Charles Walton and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 12:30 PM at First Baptist Church Earl. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The service will be livestreamed starting at 12:15 PM from Enloe Mortuary’s FaceBook Page. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM and at other times the family will be meeting from 12:30- pm-7:30 pm through Tuesday, June 20th.
