Obituary For Steve Miller

Mr. Steve Wardell Miller, 60, of 1305 Greer Street Shelby, NC passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. He was born on December 19, 1959 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Willie Miller and Barbara Jane Jeffries Miller.

Steve was a retired captain of the Shelby Fire and Rescue Department after 25 years of service.

Steve was always a man of strength, courage, and diligence, never meeting a stranger. Often you could find him at the Goodwill sparking up a conversation. The love he had for his wife, children, and family was a force that could never be broken.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Barbara Miller, and his brother Willie Miller Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Doris Miller, who remained by his side until his passing; son Steven Miller of Charlotte, NC; daughters Tamerriell Hogue (Charles) of Belmont, NC; Quanterra, Shanterra, Tysherra, of the home; Adrain Hunt of Salisbury, NC; granddaughters Tarayjah Hoey-Gordon (Clayton) of Greensboro, NC; Taiylor Hoey of Belmont, NC; sisters Karen Partlow and Sandra Brooks of Shelby, NC; brother Jeffrey Miller (Latoshia) of Shelby, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, close friends, and beloved co-workers.

Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the service for Mr. Miller will be private. Mr. Miller may be viewed at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

R.I.P. Steve. You were a great person & neighbor to mom and I. She loved you like a son. Thank you for always looking out for us back in the days on Buffalo Street.

I remember pulling calls with Steve when he was with the Fire Dept & I was with Shelby Rescue. Now he sat near me at dialysis. We took our treatments on the same days. I surely miss him. We'd talk about calls we had pulled together & talk about our dialysis & certain feelings we had about it. He was so easy to talk to. Those are some great memories is I'll always have to cherish. May he be at peace now. He's free from all the pain & suffering. We'll see each other again in heaven. Rest in peace my friend.
